Alan Bruce Flowers, 76, of Frederick, Maryland, passed away on May 16, 2024 after a two-year battle with mesothelioma. He left us peacefully, surrounded by his loving wife Candy and close family.Born on May 19, 1947, to Maurice and Audrey Flowers, he grew up in Arbutus and West Friendship, Maryland. After attending UMBC, he enlisted in the Air Force. He served for four years and was stationed in Thailand, where he participated in covert operations while building many fond memories of the people, the countryside, and the spicy food.Upon his return, he joined the family flower business, which extended back for three generations. There he met and married Sandy George and embraced the role of father to her three- and seven-year-old daughters. They purchased Davis Florist in Elkton and ran the business together for nearly twenty years.After he was widowed, he sold the business and began working for a non-profit.
